The journey begins in the groves of cork oak trees (Quercus suber), primarily found in the Mediterranean region. Harvesting cork is a sustainable practice that involves carefully peeling away the bark from mature trees. Remarkably, this process doesn’t harm the tree, allowing it to regenerate and continue absorbing carbon dioxide.

2. Cork Oak Tree Resilience:

These remarkable trees can live for over two centuries, with the first harvest typically occurring when the tree is around 25 years old. Subsequent harvests take place every 9 years, showcasing the resilience of the cork oak.

3. Skilled Artisans at Work:

Once harvested, the cork bark is stacked and left to air-dry for several months. Skilled artisans then handpick the best-quality cork for processing, ensuring the highest standards for our footwear.
